Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery from the Greek plattein – to construct, shape or form, is a surgery that for functional or cosmetic/aesthetic reasons makes changes in shape or restores the shape of organs or tissue. It is mainly concerned with the visible areas of the body. The goal of the plastic surgeon is to restore or improve on the visible shape and functions of the patient.

In plastic surgery operations are undertaken on purely aesthetic grounds as well as for functional reasons. Sometimes the two are combined.
